Three Things We Find in Hill Country Chimneys Every Week

Hot summers, hard freezes, cedar smoke and caps nobody has looked at in a decade. Every photo below was taken by our crew on a real job.

Creosote glaze in the flue

Creosote glaze in the flue

The shiny black layer on the flue walls is third-stage creosote: fuel stuck to the chimney. It is what chimney fires burn, and it does not show from the living room.

“In 35 minutes they diagnosed safety issues, did the cleaning and gave me all my options for making fixes.”★★★★★ Valerie Ford · Google review
Caps that lost their screen

Caps that lost their screen

A cap without a screen is an open door for birds, squirrels and rain. Half the flues we open in the fall have a nest or a dead bird on the smoke shelf.

“He explained what he looks for in an inspection. On time, pleasant, courteous and knowledgeable.”★★★★★ Marci Schumacher · Google review
Cracked crowns and failed joints

Cracked crowns and failed joints

Hill Country sun opens hairline cracks in the crown, the winter freezes turn them into spalled stone and loose mortar. Small repair now, rebuild later.

“Provided details and explained process and educated on potential hazards. Great job.”★★★★★ Steven Kirk · Google review

Start With a Free
Professional Inspection

Four steps, and you can stop after any of them without owing a thing.

1

We call you back

Within the hour during business hours. We confirm a window that suits you, often the same or next day.

2

Free inspection at your home

A technician checks the firebox, runs a light or a camera up the flue and looks at the cap, crown and flashing from the roof. You can watch the whole time.

3

Written quote on the spot

Priced per line and per task, in writing, before anything is touched. Decide now or think it over.

4

Work done, home left clean

Most sweeps and services finish the same visit with the hearth sealed and a HEPA vacuum running. You get after-photos and pay when done.

Why the “$79 Chimney Sweep Special” Costs More Than We Do

Most homeowners call three companies. Here is what to ask each of them.

Ask themWorld of ChimneyCoupon sweep
Is the inspection free, and do I get photos?Yes. Photos from inside the flue and from the roof, sent to your phone.A “free estimate” that turns into upsells at the hearth.
Is the price in writing before you start?Yes. Per line, per task, signed before work.$79 covers a brush up the flue; the smoke shelf, damper and cap are “extra.”
Do you go on the roof?Yes. Cap, crown and flashing are where the expensive damage starts.Ground level only.
Who shows up?Our own technicians, a local company insured in Texas.Subcontractor crews from Austin or out of state.
Will you tell me if I don’t need it?Yes. About one in five inspections ends with “you’re fine.”The truck came out, so something will be sold.

Questions Homeowners Ask Before They Book

How much does a chimney sweep cost?

It depends on the fireplace, the flue and what the inspection finds, which is exactly why we inspect first. You get a written per-line price before anything is touched, and the inspection itself is free.

Is the inspection really free, even if I don’t buy anything?

Yes. We check the firebox, look up the flue, photograph what we find and hand you a written quote. If it is clean, we say so. Roughly one in five inspections ends with no work sold.

How long does it take?

An inspection is under an hour. A sweep takes one to two hours, a gas fireplace service about an hour, a dryer vent cleaning about 30 minutes.

Do you service gas fireplaces?

Yes. Burner, pilot, logs, glass and venting, once a year, and we fix the ones that will not light.

Are you licensed and insured?

World of Chimney operates under Dream Franchise LLC, a Texas company with general liability insurance. Our technicians are employees, not subcontractors.

What happens after I send the form?

We call you back within the hour during business hours, Monday to Saturday 8 AM to 6 PM. Forms sent overnight get a call first thing in the morning.
