Frequently Asked
Questions About Roof & Flashing Services
Do you offer free inspections before service?
Yes. Every service starts with a free professional inspection. We look, photograph what we find and give you a written price before anything is touched.
How do I know it is the flashing and not the roof?
A stain that starts at the chimney and appears after rain is the flashing in most cases. We check the crown and cap too, because a cracked crown leaks the same way.
Can it just be caulked?
Caulk over failed flashing lasts a season. Proper counter flashing cut into the mortar joint lasts decades.
Do I need a roofer?
Not for the flashing around the chimney. That is our side of the roof. If the shingles themselves are the problem, we tell you.
Do you do this on the same visit as the chimney or the dryer vent?
Yes. It is part of any roof-side inspection and most people add it.
What is a storm collar?
The cone that seals the flue pipe where it passes through the roof flashing. The sealant cracks in the sun and rain gets in.
Can you screen a bath fan or dryer cap?
Bath fans yes. Dryer caps should not be screened because lint clogs the screen; we clear and free the flap instead.
