The flue liner is the part of the chimney that actually carries the fire’s exhaust. Cracked or missing clay tiles let heat and gases reach the framing around the chimney. A stainless steel liner puts a continuous, sealed passage back in.

Clay tiles crack from chimney fires, from settling and from decades of heating and cooling. Patching them from inside is not practical. A stainless liner, insulated and sized to the appliance, restores a safe flue in a day and usually improves the draft as well.

Camera inspection shows cracked, shifted or missing tiles

Pieces of tile in the firebox or on the smoke shelf

A chimney fire, even a small one, in the past

A new wood stove, insert or gas appliance that needs a properly sized flue

Smoke smell in rooms next to the chimney

An older masonry chimney with no liner at all

Frequently Asked
Questions About
Chimney Relining

How do I know the liner is damaged?

Only a camera inspection shows it. We run one up the flue and show you the recording.

Is a stainless liner better than clay tiles?

For a repair, yes. It is continuous, sealed and sized to what you are burning, and it goes in without taking the chimney apart.

Does relining change how the fireplace draws?

Usually for the better. A correctly sized, insulated liner keeps the flue warmer and the draft steadier.

How long does it last?

Stainless liners carry long manufacturer warranties, often lifetime for wood-burning use, provided they are swept.

How long does the job take?

Most relines are done in one day.
